Once one of the most popular webcam communities, World of Webcams (formerly known as Camarades) is a fairly basic and uncomplicated webcam site, featuring cams from all over the world. You can see people, and places, both indoors and outside.
There's a free software download which allows you to stream your webcam on a free, customisable, webpage hosted by World of Webcams.

myvideochat.net - Webcam Community & Software
Quite similar to World Of Webcams, myvideochat.net is a simple, easy to use webcam community site, featuring multiple cams from around the world.
There is a free software download to display your own webcam on the site, and other software allowing you to run multiple cams from a single computer.

Stickam - Webcam Social Network
A flash based webcam social networking site and one of the most technically feature rich webcam communities. Think of it as MySpace with cams and chat.
The features of this site are very impressive, including the ability to store and display your own photos and videos.
There are both personal and group audio and text chat rooms, and you can embed your cam and chatroom on external websites.
The inhabitants of Stickam are largely teens, and while you will find some older users, these younger users can display quite a negative attitude towards the older generation.

BlogTV - Cam Broadcasting Community
A cam community in the style of tv broadcasting. Users present shows on their chosen topic, like live video blogs. Refreshingly different.

UStream.TV - Webcam Broadcasting Community
A very large and popular broadcasting style cam community. This site features live broadcasts from both large corporations, and your every day cam user with something to say. One of a growing number of cam communities that presents itself more as an interactive TV network.

JMeeting - Adult Cam Community
A technically impressive webcam community site. You can sign up for free and make full use of the site, while paying a subscription fee provides enhanced features.
The site uses Java to run the cams and multiple chat rooms, which come under various catagories.
Easy to use, plenty of users, though not suitable for minors.

CamChat.org - Webcam Chat Site
Free to access, camchat.org utilises flash to access and display users webcams, and java to provide a community chat room.
While the flash gained access to this reviewer's webcam with no problem, the java (irc type) chat did not want to connect. This is no doubt due to the use of a router at the reviewer's end, and would probably be quite easy to fix, by setting port forwarding on the router.
Certainly one of the least corporate or the many webcam communities out there.

iVideochat - Adult Cam Chat
A very easy to access free webcam chat site.
The site uses flash to display cams and provide multiple audio and text chat rooms, and also to access users webcams.
There is "adult" activity in evidence, so this is definitely not suitable for minors.

WebcamNow - Webcam Community
A flash based webcam chat site, featuring an "open" area, which is not suitable for minors, and a friends and family section.
General access to the site is free, while a paid for upgrade will increase the speed of the cams.

CamVoice - Cam Community Chat Site
CamVoice is a free flash based cam community chat site, so no software download is required..
There are multiple text and audio chat rooms featuring integrated cams.
The lobby chat room is moderated, while others do not appear to be. You can also create your own room.
Like many cam communities, "adult" behaviour does not appear to be uncommon here.

ANYwebcam.com - Adult Webcam Community
A java based webcam community, with a free signup procedure and free software download to run your own cam on the site.
There are multiple chat rooms, and cams can be browsed outside of the chat areas, by catagory, such as gender, etc.
The overall design of the website is predominantly "adult", so minors absolutely should not be permitted to view it.

Shockrooms - Webcam Community
Another very easy to access flash based cam chat site.
Basic access is free, and no downloads are required. Enhanced features can be bought.
It is also possible to embed cams and chat onto your own site, which will then feature as part of a wider network of cam chat rooms.

Userplane Directory - Webcam Communities
A directory of webcam chatrooms using the userplane instant cam comminity service.
Some of these require you to sign up to userplane, before you can access their chat areas, some do not.

2cam4u - Cam Community
A very sophisitcated looking flash based cam community site.
There's a simple free signup procedure which allows basic access to the cams and chat, while different levels of access can be paid for to add extra features.
